Day One: Washington State Government


Today, we’ll explore many facets of state government, discuss its traditions, and meet some of the dedicated public servants who make this institution a valuable, beneficial and enduring aspect of life in Washington State. We will consider ways these examples help illustrate the importance of good governance and responsible civic duty here at home, across the nation and throughout the civilized world.

Overnight at Black Lake Camp

Day Two: The Long Beach Peninsula


  • Breakfast at Black Lake Camp
  • Drive to Long Beach
    • At 28 miles long, the Long Beach Peninsula is claimed to be the longest beach in the US
    • Washingtonians also claim that it is the world’s longest drivable beach
  • Lunch in majestic Long Beach
  • Explore the Cape Disappointment Lighthouse
    • This is the oldest functioning lighthouse on the West Coast
  • History books come to life at the renowned Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center
  • Dinner in Long Beach

Day Three: Coastal Discovery: Long Beach & Astoria, OR


  • Breakfast at hotel
  • Morning nature hike along the peninsula
  • Explore Astoria, OR – options include:

Day Four: Roslyn Brings History to Life

  • Depart Long Beach and begin scenic drive back to Spokane

  • Awaken your comprehension of Pacific Northwest Settler Diversity as you learn the secret history buried in Roslyn’s amazing cemeteries
